Hope, NOT Fear

In the middle of watching the Inauguration, I ponder if I am the only one in my family to have cast a vote for a Democrat. I know there are family members of mine that see me in a different, negative, light now for my decision. I know there were family members plotting, amongst themselves, [...]

Offense

On the heels of feeling offended the other day, I realize I wasn’t. Not in comparison to this…
Offense
1 a: obsolete : an act of stumbling b: archaic : a cause or occasion of sin : stumbling block
2 something that outrages the moral or physical senses
3 a: the act of attacking : assault b: the means [...]

Ouch, That Hurt

I don’t get offended easily. I am diligent in living life as a survivor and not as a victim. I make sure that the remarks and actions of others don’t cause me to pause my life in confusion and doubt.
Well, I let someone’s remark hurt me and it still kind of hurts. Hopefully writing this [...]

Losers And Winners

Insomnia

Couldn’t sleep, almost 2am on December 31, 2008… I don’t know what all of this means. I had the first two lines in my head, started writing and couldn’t stop.

My shaky heart won’t pour them out
Putting on silence like a warm winter jacket
Has my tongue twisted in confusion
Time and [...]

Happy Birthday, Zoe!

Today is Zoe’s sixth birthday. Six years ago today, I was in the hospital, induced a week early (because Malakai was so big: 9lbs. 6ozs.), and pushing out a hefty 8lb. 5oz. baby girl.
We didn’t know Zoe would be a girl. Jase and I found out the sex of Malakai because I needed to plan [...]

Long, Long Ago

Zoe: Remember when we went to that garage sale and they had one thing for free?
Me: No, I don’t. Were you with Mama and Papa?
Zoe: Well, I remember and it was a looooong time ago in 2008.

Brand New Colony

It’s amazing to me how music can cause so much emotion. Whether sadness, anger, joy or love, music can entice a slew of memories and can encourage action on so many levels.
As we are cleaning up all the Christmas paraphernalia in our house, Jase had his iPod playing random songs from the last several years [...]

To Be Known

What is it about the insatiable desire to just be known?
Does the dream of becoming famous stem from this inclination alone?
Look around at the plethora of community networks and you’ll see the pattern of just wanting our stories to be told. Photos and personal pages and blogs and message boards and comments, all [...]
